She was lookin' for a crown to steal

When she came across this young Pony Princess,

With a magic so sparklin' hot,
And the Shimmer jumped upon a Candy Fruit stump and said,
"Mare, let me tell you what."


"I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a Pony Princess too.
And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.

Now you may have the Magic of Friendship, but give this demon her due.
I'll bet a Crystal Heart against your crown, 'cause I think I'm better than you!"


The Princess said, "My name's Twilight, and it might be a sin.
But I'll take your bet, and you're gonna regret, 'cause I'm the best there's ever been!"


Twilight Sparkle, stage the stage and work your magic hard,
'Cause Hell's broke loose in Equestria, and the Shimmer deals the cards,
And if you win, you get the prettiest Crystal Heart around,

But if you lose, the Shimmer gets your crown!

The Shimmer brought out a bone and she said, "I'll start this show."

And fire flew from her fingertips that could roast a dragon's toe,
And she sparked that bone, and when it glowed and it sparked, and it gave an evil hiss,
And a band of demons joined in, and it sounded something like this.


When the Shimmer finished, Twilight said,
"Well, you're pretty good, ol' demon.

But just sit down in that chair right there,
Let me show you how it's done!"


Off to Canterlot, Run girls run!
Shimmer's got the Princesses of the Moon and Sun!
Upsetting the balance of Night and Day!

The Shimmer bowed her head in defeat, her own magic gone poof,

And she laid that Crystal Heart on the ground at Twilight's hoof,
Twilight said, "Shimmer, come on back if you ever wanna try again,
'Cause I've told you once, you arrogant (*##$, I'm the best there's ever been!"
