STEVEN HAYS lyrics : "All For America"

Back in 1777 in a place called Valley Forge
I had no coat or shoes or blanket in the dead of Winter
Food was scarce, and I was sick and many a friend just froze to death

While the Redcoats lived in comfort in our ow Philadelphia.
With my hope burning low, old George would go down in the woods and pray to God
He'd come back with fire in his eyes, giving courage to press on

For freedom's holy cause
All for America!

On a gray drizzly day back in 1944
I was waiting my turn to die, like a lamb led to slaughter.
Stars and Stripes flew overhead as I stood on the front row in the boat

And I prayed, "Please, Dear God, let my life count for something."
And then I thought about my children's children that I would never know,
And then I gladly bought their freedom with my own American blood!

All for America!

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America

And to the Republic for which it stands
We're one nation under God, indivisible and with liberty and justice
For all who live here.

On a bright September day that started out like any other
Somehow I found myself on the stairs knee deep in rubble.

Didn't know if I'd live or die while our nation hit its knees in prayer,
Then a fireman came and showed me the road to freedom.
And when he went back for another all the walls came tumbling down,

And America paid the hero's price - "Blood for Freedom" once again.
All for America!

We're at war once again with those who've raised bad hands against us.
We will fight for freedom's light against the terror.
Little hearts are so afraid at night as they lay in their beds and wonder

Will the bad men come to hurt me like they did those towers
And when my children ask me if I am scared,
I say No

and they say Why Not
I tell them that we belong to America,
One nation under God!

All For America!

Repeat Chorus 1

Bridge
God helped George back in Valley Forge,

Helped us love one another after killing our brothers,
He was down in the trenches, put away Hitler,
He saw Momma kneeling for her boys in Korea.

Helped us bite back the fear in the jungles of 'Nam,
Kept Norman a stormin' in the big Desert War,
He was with those brave men who said, "Let's Roll!"

And He's with George Bush who will lead us to victory once more!
All for America!

So America, let's not forget just where that we've come from!
Our freedom was paid for in blood,
and sweat and tears and a real strong faith in God!

When my Grandpa stood proud in the boat off of the coast of Normandy,
It was God Who gave him the courage
to give up his life so that we could all be free!

So I'll place my trust in God if I want to!
This is still the Land of the Free, and a Home for The Brave!

I want God to stay on my one dollar bill,
To see my leaders keep praying up on Capitol Hill,
Want my children to learn why America's strong,

And that we are a nation where God does belong,
And yes, that we are - America!
