a subliminal message hidden in-between the lines
a ritual you ignore because it's cynical

you only see my physical
my mental state's invisible
on the outside I act invincible

when I go to sleep

I want to stay in my dreams because truthfully this harsh reality is far from the place that I'd like to be

depression has a hold over me
surrounded by a negative energy
I can't remember the last time I felt happy

I probably wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the support I get from my family
if someone were to produce a movie of my life it would be categorized as either a horror or a tragedy
I am not writing this in search of sympathy

that's the last thing I want people to feel for me
people say there are two sides to every story
so listen carefully before you judge me

I'm writing this for people who are or have been in the same position as me.

Believe me
many times I contemplated suicide

the people who claimed to be closest
never truly knew how I felt inside
I refused to confide

I continued to keep my true emotions hid
bottled them up

physically
mentally and emotionally scarred by things I witnessed or went through as a kid

but I refuse to let that hold me back
I finally feel as though I got my life back on track
it wasn't plain sailing

I got here through hard work
I didn't slack
I intend to never look back

if I got through then you can to
keep your head up and stay strong and when you feel like giving up

I realize the difference between right and wrong and I realize that giving up should never be an option
look at how far you've come
people care about you and you should too
