I don't know why I got dressed this morning
It's not like I've got any place to be
These days the latest fashion

Is a total lack of passion
But you won't read that in the magazines


I've got a heart like an old pair of jeans
It's torn and it's tattered and frayed at the seams
I ain't doing great but I'm doing O.K.

At least it isn't Valentine's day

This bitter taste is all I want for breakfast

For lunch I'll have the silence in my room
For dinner if I'm able, I'll go and set the table
And try to light a candle with the moon


A bottle of wine and a table for one
My feelings are raw and my hearts overdone

I got a plate full of lonely at the heartbreak cafe
But at least it isn't Valentine's day


Even though it all amounts to a chemical reaction
Somehow I can't figure out how I broke the laws
of attraction


You can get some roses and some candies
And a pretty card you bought and didn't write

But before you give those gifts to her
You'd better check your calendar
Cause you can't do that stuff every night


Or maybe you can and maybe you should
How bad could it be to make her feel good?

Take it from me and you won't have to say
At least it isn't Valentine's day!
