MATT HICKS lyrics : "Tarquin the Turkey"

A winter morning in the turkey neighborhood,
Tarquin felt a little twitch in his snood.
He said to his mother, "I've been around the block,

But I can't see a brother left in the whole of the flock!"

Well T's mother turned with a stoical smile.

Tarquin swore he saw a tear in her eye.
"I really don't know the best way to tell yer,
They've all gone to become, Santa's little helpers.

Well Tarquin felt a surge in the tip of his corricle.
To leave home comforts and his mother would be horrible,

But his destiny was to leave the turkey pen in Belper,
So he would also be Santa's little helper.
And his Mama said:

Chorus
"Oh, Tarquin!" his mother said. "Don't wish your Christmases away!

There's plenty of time left so tidy your dreams, go and play.
Oh, T don't wish your Christmases away.
You're only young so enjoy what you have today."

Well Tarquin couldn't sleep but he never did speak
Of the ideas forming behind his beak

Of making some noise as he tested the toys
Or pulling away at the front of Santas sleigh.

He said to himself: Chorus:
"Oh, Tarquin!" his mother said. "Don't wish your Christmases away!
There's plenty of time left so tidy your dreams, go and play.

Oh, T don't wish your Christmases away.
You're only young so enjoy what you have today."

Christmas eve morning Tarquin woke with a start.
He wasn't in the turkey pen he was in the back of a cart.

When he looked up he saw a tubby white bearded fellow
Who pulled on some reigns and gave out a bellow.

T said "Excuse me, Sir I hope to help you,
I've lived for this moment how do you do you?
I could be so useful now I've left infancy."

But Santa said: "Son, I aint got no vacancies."

He looked at Tarquin with a stoical smile.

Tarquin had a tear in his eye.
"You see, T I have a job which is only for a winner,
And it'll all be clear when we sit down for dinner."

And Santa said: Chorus
"Oh, Tarquin! Don't wish your Christmases away!

There's plenty of time left so tidy your dreams, go and play.
Oh, T don't wish your Christmases away.
You're only young so enjoy what you have today."

As family Santa sat down for their meal,
Tarquin clucked a little nervous appeal.

And as he looked at Santa a little confused,
He found it hard to be in the least bit enthused.

"You see, Tarquin, my granddaughter wanted a pet.
We told her no but her mind was is set.
But she doesn't like cats and she's allergic to dogs,

And Mrs Clause is too house proud for hogs.

"So if its alright with you and if it wouldn't be beneath yer,

I'd like to introduce you to my grandchild Sinitta.
Sinitta Claus, Tarquin the turkey is yours,
But make sure you clean up after him indoors."

And Sinitta Claus said:

"Tarquin, in Lapland its Christmas everday.

So don't go wishing them all away.
Tarquin we love you, so please come to stay.
Everyday will be Christmas, now lets go and play." And Tarquin said: Gobble Scat
