It hurts my heart. Here we are killing each other. Shootings and bombings. It just makes me so sad, y'know? To see how we're treating each other...It's ugly. It's so so ugly. And I'm just trying to figure it out. Why are we doing this?

There used to be a time when the earth was greener
People used to smile, now we're only getting meaner

Happiness used to show, now it's trapped behind demeanor

He stole a piece of all of your lives, and he took
sanity and laughter and your baby boys and girls

It's a tragedy, catastrophe, still numbing the whole world
And nowadays, you can't go out in crowds
there's an omnipresent fear of getting bombed or mowed down

Dark (K)night? Yeah it was. It was crazy how it happened.
Empty seats cloaked in blood drenched napkins.
People diving all over the floor in fearful passion.

Hear 'em screaming. It's time to take action.

I just wanna wake up from the nightmare
Show me people running off of love, prove they still care
I don't understand why we're lusting after guns and knives

Cutting it close, ending all these precious lives
But I just can't seem to grasp it
I feel like a hare amongst rabbits, creatures of habit

Ain't nobody trying to change, it's insane
Are those folks in Colorado to blame?
How can we live killing off innocents (innocence)?

Only thing we're leaving behind are smoky remnants.
Violence and warfare, blood and animosity
Fueling hateful fires instead of fueling curiosity.

It's sickening, where's the soup? I can't eat of bowl of hand grenades
Broken people cutting up their wrists. No bandaids.
That could have been a brother or a friend or a cousin

and can we please stop $$#uming that the bad guys are Muslim?
I just wanna see a peaceful world before I sleep.
Why are promises of doing what's right so hard to keep?
