As the daughter of wealthy archaeologists, Lara Croft traveled with her parents in search of lost artifacts all over the world. Along with their trusted guide and bodyguard, Conrad Roth, the Croft family became seasoned treasure hunters, but it was on one of these expeditions that Lara's parents vanished.

With her parents presumed dead, Roth took guardianship over Lara, becoming her mentor and teaching her basic survival skills. Lara went on to earn her own living rather than make use of the vast fortunes her family left behind. She paid for and attended college with her best friend Sam Nishimura, who shared her thirst for adventure.


So at the tender age of 21, the two friends set out on their first expedition aboard the Endurance along with Roth, celebrity archaeologist Dr. Whitman, and a host of other under-developed characters. With Whitman desperate to revive his television show, Roth looking for his big payday, and Lara yearning to prove herself, they set sail for the Dragon's Triangle -- thought to be the location of the lost Japanese kingdom of Yamatai. Despite all the warning signs... like the graveyard of ships, the violent storms, and hundreds missing explorers, Lara and her crew push forward into the teeth of the Dragon's Triangle. Unsurprisingly, the Endurance is severed in two and whatever remains of the crew washes up on the shores of an uncharted island.


Now it's up to Lara to reunite her crew, unravel the mystery of the Yamatai kingdom, and make it out alive.
