There is a dark night of the soul
where darkness is my old friend
and it comes to us time and time again

Where we can only experience our deepest loss
and our most extreme loneliness
As we search for answers to all our questions

Why does it seem that we want

To make it all so difficult?
Why do we always want to achieve some result?
Why do we always want things we can't have

Than to have something,
We don't really want?
Why are we so caught up

In the ?act of doing?
when we need to concentrate
On just our sense of ?being??

Where every moment is a special moment
And a new opportunity to start all over again
To bring oneself to be of service to others

and not just be of service to self.

If we want to open our hearts,

We need to face this darkness with a silent resolve
to run from anyone who is not our friend.
We need to learn that the best way

To regain our self respect is to forgive ourselves
And start all over again by letting go
Of all our self serving drama

And learn about the Law of Karma
It is not how many times we fall and fall
In this process; but how many times,

We pick ourselves up
and try and try again.


It is not the bounty of our worldly treasures
but the love we share with others
that is the secret of opening your heart.
