But we had the Konami code

No checkpoints continues
No saving oh no no
You'd pause the game and leave it

Or you'd start from beginning
But all this only made it sweeter
So much bigger when you were winning


We were on a family vacation
This was before the gameboy hit

I begged dad to leave early
So I could play the games I got for Christmas


I loved text adventure games
Just typing in commands
Using your imagination

To be whisked away to far off lands

Games nowadays just aren't the same

But I miss the challenge and I miss the torture

Of having to start back from the start
But then again maybe it's just
A different thing these days

The kids love minecraft with the same devotion
We loved all of our old games
