JIMMY CROSS lyrics : "I Want My Baby Back"

I want my baby back.
Gotta have my baby back.
I miss her, oh, so much.

Cain't live without her touch.

[Short instrumental break with sounds of the wind blowing and some

sort of snapping noise. Then Cross speaks over the music:]
I don't hardly know where to begin.
I remember we were cruisin' home from the Beatles concert.

I'd had such a wonderful evenin', settin' there...

[The music stops and we hear the sound of the car's engine as Cross

continues to speak:]
...Watchin' my baby screamin', an' tearin' her hair out,
An' carryin' on. She was so full of life.

Then..., well, we were about three miles from home,
When all of a sudden, it started to rain.
[Sound of thunder.] An' I DO mean rain.

[Sound of rain as Cross continues to speak:]
I coul'n't hardly see nothin'.

Well, we kept drivin' for about another mile,
When all of a sudden I see this stalled car,
Right smack in fron' of me.

Well, I wa'n't about to slam on the breaks,
'Cause I di'n't have none to start with.
So I swerved to the left, an' wha'do I see?

Some mush-head on a motor-sicle, headin' right at us!
An' I knew at last, me an' my baby,
Were about to meet the leader of the...

[Sounds of crashing noises, breaking glass, a loud scream, and more
breaking glass. Cross continues speaking:]

...pack.

Well, when I come to, I looked aroun',

An' there was the leader, an' there was the pack.
An' over there... was my baby.
An' over THERE was my baby!

An' waay over THERE was my baby.

[Music starts and Cross sings:]

I want my baby back.
Gotta have my baby back.
I miss her, oh, so much.

Cain't live without her touch.

[Music stops again, we hear the sound of wind blowing and Cross speaks:]

It's been many months now, since that fateful night.
An' you know sum'in'? I tried... believe me, I have tried!
But I just cain't make it without my baby.

So, I decided, I'm gonna have her back, one way or another.
Oh, baby, I DIG you SO much. [Manic laugh.]
Hot dang! Pay dirt!

[Long, drawn-out sound of a creaking hinge, then something like
a cellar door opening, then another creak as the door is closed.

The music begins again, butit is somewhat muffled, and Cross sings:]

I got my baby back.

Now I got my baby back.
I love her, oh, so much.
[Fade.]

Cain't live without her touch.
I got my baby back.
