FLORENCE WHITTAKER lyrics : "The Story Of A Girl"

She's running, running from this run down town,
Everybody's counting the minutes down,
how long before she'll beg to come right back,

Everyone is looking,
Waiting for a sound,
Waiting for the blood to come pouring down,

10 seconds before everything went black

Chorus:

His eyes, in the back of her mind,
Tell her it is too late this time,
Now she cannot win, and she cannot lose,

She's bitter and she's wasted but she'll still find you,

She's a broken kite, still high, but flying low,

Why is she following you?
Nobody knows

She's failed all her tests, and she missed her exams,
She was drinking in the morning,
Before she went to maths,

She doesn't give a %#@!,
And all she does is skive,
She's already out on the town and it's only half five,

She's only fifteen, but everyone knows her name,
It's a sick twisted scheme,
And it's all such a shame,

Such a waste, of a pretty face, but there's no regret,
She's got partying to be doing, instead,

She's ready to go out,
It's a Thursday night,
She's got Tracey, and Stacey, and they've brought Mike,

They have a fishbowl in the club, in the middle of town, and of course they get in without being turned down,
'Cause she, looks five years older than she's meant to be,
She's only in year 10 but her !@(& are double D,

She's turning all the heads and it's clear for them to see, that this girl is gagging for it, she just screams 'easy',
So already she's got every guy buying her drinks,
She's not even slightly shy, despite what they all think,

And with a flip of her hair, she's in way too deep,
With a 22-year-old who thinks she's 23,
As they walk to the loos and she starts to look scared,

She pretends to be drunk,
As she walks up the stairs,
She's almost in tears, 'cause this is her first time, with a guy, who's unaware, he's committing a crime.

Chorus

She's worried and confused as he takes off her dress,
She sucks her tummy in and tries her very best,
To look desirable and sexy - the way she hopes he likes,

But he just looks down at himselfs and grabs her hand to try,
Now she feels like screaming, she doesn't know what to do,
She can hear her friends laughter in the very next room,

She wishes she was with them, and not with this weird man,
But before she can think, he is forcing her down,
She feels the tears escaping, then he asks 'what's wrong?'

He's sick of teenagers teasing him and leading him on,
He knows what has just happened.. But he's not walking away,
Suddenly he's on top of her and there is no escape.

Chorus

The pain starts to stop,
And the guy stands up.
He smiles as he leaves her - completely stunned,

In a pool of tears and tissues as he walks out the door,
She's crying on the floor of a mens urinal,
As she pulls up her dress, and tries to sort out her face,

In a broken mirror covered in dirty phrases,
As she re-applies her make-up and walks out the door,
There's a queue of other guys, waiting for her to give them more,

She yells to her mates, but nobody can hear, she tries to stop the shaking, and the dread, and the fear,
But they all know she'll do it, and they won't stop until she has,
They're all wearing matching t-shirts, saying 'Baz's Stag'

She counts 8-9 of them before she hears 'slag!',
Everyone is shouting, and pointing at her face,
She runs through all the screaming, till she's on the pavement in a state,
Then she sees her friends all sharing a kebab, they see her too and then they hail a cab,

Chorus

She wakes up every day, with yesterday on her face,
With a guy, who she knows, 'cause he lives on the estate,
He's in her bed, in her head, why does no one care?

They expect nothing less - they don't even dare,
'Cause everyone is scared of her family and herself,
She fights by day, so at night, she's in a cell.

Chorus.
