Last night, I had a dream
A nightmare actually,
I was wandering through an empty, shut down factory

The silence was eerie
And I couldn't see clearly
Then I heard the violent roar of machinery

As the cog's began to hiss and spin
I was engulfed in a blood red mist
The sensations that I felt were too numerous to list

I was frightened and enlightened
As I discovered there were other beings that called this place home
It seemed they needed guidance, someone to confide in

They were together, but I knew they were alone
I strangely felt at ease, like I finally belonged
But there was something going on, it was definitely wrong

The look of anguish on their faces was infinitely strong
I lost my temporary peace, when I saw their flesh diseased
As my level of fear increased

I swear they could smell it
They started shuffling my way
I remember thinking, $#&@, I'm gonna die today

I turned, there was no door, trying to hide away
'Cos if I stayed around, this tale I wouldn't get the chance to say


As I ran to find an exit, one of my legs hit
An invisible line
It was intentionally lined

stopping my advance, of leaving this horrifying trance
That's an oxymoron
As I crashed into the floor on my face

But I didn't have time to waste
The adrenaline pumped through my veins
As I waxed and I waned, no time to complain

I just wanted so desperately to leave

I saw a figure in the distance

burned to the third degree
And as he turned
I was shocked to notice it was me

He seemed incorporeal
And like a twisted mime, he followed my every move
Which further soured my mood

He was disfigured, but he stood proudly
'You are not to leave' he exclaimed loudly
He had a single tear run down his eye

I asked the doppelganger why do you cry?
My demeanour was curious
His facial features, furious

But he calmly responded, because you have to die
Then somebody turned on the light
