The tree house that was built for us
Was a palace flat and roofless in the tallest tree our dad could find
And we would play inside that fort

Neighborhood kids in their summer shorts
Letting our imaginations take over our minds
Please don't grow up, is that a reasonable request

I guess being the legal drinking age will be the ultimate test
But please don't grow up at least not without me
But if you do, I'm coming too

Stuffed animals got dust in their eyes from sitting on your shelf in a pile

I got a cloth to dust them off and renew their site
They told me everything they'd seen
The images of you and me

Wading in the ocean with the water to our knees
Well your shoes are so big
And my feet seem so tiny

You're as tall as the clouds with their silver lining
I'm only as tall as the hills in our town so I can look up to you


Please don't grow up at least not without me

Some say our childhoods are packaged up like shipping goods in boxes in the ba!@&(t
And your room is now vacant

You made a home in San Diego
But I'm in good old San Francisco
We're repping the blue and yellow state

But the golden gate city just ain't as golden without you

So please don't grow up at least not without me
