Şoim în văzduh
Sur, semeț, ca o piază tăcută, vechi străjer al țării de sus
Cu aripa lină, clonț de oţel, străbate zarea un șoim în văzduh.

De sus veghează nemărginirea, orizonturi de om nepătrunse
În nori zăbovește furtună sau soare, iar ochii lui văd taine ascunse.


Câți ani au trecut și câţi s-or mai scurge peste meleaguri de vrăji și de vis
Pământul azi verde stropit fuse cu sânge, pătat de-ai noștri buni, pentru patrie au ucis.


Şoim în văzduh, frate-naripat, du-mi amintirea departe
Să nu mor niciodat'
De cei ce m-au cunoscut, în inimi nu m-or uita

Şoim voi fi și eu, cu tine voi zbura.

Mai rece curge acum toamna, apusurile sunt tot mai lungi și triste

În coșuri trâmbe de fum se înalță, prin văi cad copaci sub barde-ascuțite
Se simte frigul iernii ce vine când codrul pare mort și-nghețat
Un șoim e-n vazduh, sau poate sunt eu, strajă sub nouri, de nouri purtat.

Hawk in the Skies
Hoary and lofty, like silent omen, ancient shield of the Northern Stead
Sly-quiet wing, steel-lusty neb, a hawk in the skies scours the depths

From above it watches the endless expanse, by men unattained lair of Nanna
Abiding in cloud, be it sunshine or storm, its eyes transfix hidden arcana


Long years have now passed and many more will flow over these lands of dream and spell
This ground, now green, besmeared it was with blood, stained by our kin, their foe they did fell


Hawk in the skies, winged brother nigh
Carry my memory far, that I should never die
Those who once were close, if their hearts be my nest

A hawk I will become, with you I will fly abreast

Colder it flows, the fall of today, ever longer sunsets in sadness wade

From chimneys veils of smoke unwind, trees down the valleys fall under blade
Nighing winter's chill encroaches when the woods don deadened frozen shrouds
A hawk in the skies, or maybe myself, on guard 'neath the clouds, borne by the clouds
