AUDACITY lyrics : "A Little More Meaning"

To be a rapper these days is to be pretentious.
I could try to deny it but there's just way too much evidence.
Everywhere I turn my head in the hip hop music nexus.

Rappers keep rolling out rhymes claiming that they're the next %#@!.
Whether it's mainstream music videos or YouTube contests,
all I see are pompous pricks banging upon their small chest.

Pathetically tryin' to resemble the divine,
to enjoy their bull%#@! you need to load up on that church wine.
Why do you treat your audience like a $#&@in' peasant?

With themes so dry it's like I'm in the Sahara desert.
If this makes you offended just know it's worth the lesson.
You're in my class room right now, shutup students and pay attention.

Nobody gives a $#&@ about how good you are.
Your stacks of cash, your shiny car.
The self-flattery incorporated in every bar

will never be a credential, it doesn't make you a star.
Music has so much power, but the power's being wasted,
every single time you spit a line claiming to be the greatest.

The genre of intricate rhyme would be sublime,
if it weren't for these overdone egotistical behaviours.

CHORUS

This arrogance is getting so tedious.

There's nothing cool about delirious.
Have richer themes in the songs you sing.
The audience deserves something with a little more meaning.

We don't wanna hear about how you're the best.
If hip hop dies the blood will be on your hands.
I hear the same %#@! being spat everyday,

The same message just different lyrics delivered in a different way.
This arrogance is getting so tedious.
There's nothing cool about delirious.

Have richer themes in the songs you sing.
The audience deserves something with a little more meaning.

This egotism is everywhere but I certainly avoid it.
I gain wisdom from the world and lyrically employ it.
I find rapping more rewarding when I avoid the bull%#@!.

Spitting deeper verses will give you far more fulfilment.
Every single time I recite a line
I plan to give the audience a little bit of insight.

Take the lessons I've learned and the knowledge I've earned,
and pack em tight in into every single song that I write.
I want to help the world with every sliver of lyric I deliver.

Give the gift of wisdom to every fan and every listener.
There's a lot to learn myself but it won't hurt if I share my lesson with ya.
Rap about important things, love, dreams, the prime minister.

If they listen to the words you spit you might as well put it to use.
Commend heroes other than yourself and expose witnessed abuse.
Put some emotional vividness in your tunes,

you'll gain some fans that actually understand and care about you.
So take in on board, give it a go, and drop the superficial.
Rapping about being the greatest ain't always beneficial.

Just because you say that you're the best doesn't make it official.
A message makes music, so stop being so sacrificial.

CHORUS
We don't wanna hear about how you're the best.
If hip hop dies the blood will be on your hands.

I hear the same %#@! being spat every day,
The same message just different lyrics delivered in a different way
This arrogance is getting so tedious.

There's nothing cool about delirious.
Have richer themes in the songs you sing.
The audience deserves something with a little more meaning.

We don't wanna hear about how you're the best.
If hip hop dies the blood will be on your hands.
I hear the same %#@! being spat every day,

The same message but different lyrics delivered in a different way.
This arrogance is getting so tedious.
There's nothing cool about delirious.

Have richer themes in the songs you sing.
The audience deserves something with a little more meaning.
