Working class people are the ones who built our land
We are the ones, not the rich politicians, that have fought for our freedoms
Freedom to live with dignity, a safe workplace with a decent wage

So we can live out our dreams, that's the American way

An American kid in an American school, I learned about how we are free

To do things we wanna do, our Constitution enshrined this society
I was proud, I was happy, I was thankful for my immigrant family
I didn't understand why we had to struggle so hard to survive


Baseball and soccer were my favorite sports to play
I ate hotdogs, I went to church, I stayed up playing video games

I had friends of every race, creed, and identity
I was proud, I was happy, then I turned on the TV...


I saw violence
I saw hate
All the cartoons were fake

As I got older
I got in trouble
We all got in fights because of our race

I knew it wasn't right, black or white
Brown, red, yellow, or green
All these ideas of unity turned into American dreams

And then I learned about the struggles...
the Native Americans, immigrants, slaves, and workers
I turned bitter

I felt betrayed
And for a moment, I swallowed my pride
But then I put my head up,
