COUNTING CROWS lyrics : "hanging tree"

she brings her friends
so we won't have to be alone
a fear that I might loose composer

without warning
I am a child of fire, I am a liar
I have desire but I was born inside the sun this morning

This dirty life of mine
Is hangin' me up all the time

This dirty life is just a haning tree
This dirty life of mine
Is hangin' me up all the time

This dirty life is just a haning tree

They say good evening when they don't know what to say

And they say good morning we wish you would go home
You open windows and you wait for someone warm to come inside
and then you freeze to death alone

You call the waittress but it's time for her to go
and %#@! I know everyone eventually leaving
But I got a pair of wings for my birthday

and I will fall down through the sun this evening

I wrote down the lyrics to Hanging Tree today (as posted above) and
I'm left dispointed to say the least, because this song is just so

fresh in terms of melody, but I think it deserves better lyrics than
this.

Do you think these lyrics are of the same caliber as we we got off
those first two albums? I think the melody and the song structure on
this is brilliant (reminds me a bit of Wilco) but the lyrics are

beyond abstract, maybe even incoherent, simple, passive those are
words that come to mind. Same is true of their new song Cowboys I
think. Does anyone know if Adam is a heavy drug user? Maybe he's

fried? Not an accusation by any stretch just an inquiry. I only ask
that because I listened to Adams voice mail posted up on the official
site (latest one they put up) and he sounds completely out of it.

There's a difference between someone who's tired- out of it and
someone who's out of it because of substance use. Unfortunately to me
he sounds like the later.

If it's not true I hope he gets some rest and starts putting more
effort into his writing... if it is true I hope one of his friends

helps him get some help.
