OF MONSTERS AND MEN Into The Woods EP lyrics

Into The Woods is an EP by Iceland based folk band, Of Monsters And Men, released on December 20, 2011. The EP has reached the number one spot on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums Chart.
Iceland's Of Monsters and Men, a six-piece band of the alternative folk persuasion, have made a warm and fuzzy imprint on the American indie-rock circuit in 2011. Not long after the Icelandic release of their debut album My Head is an Animal, their song ?Little Talks? garnered some radio play on Seattle's KEXP, as well as Philly's 104.5. The group's EP Into the Woods just dropped world-wide on December 20th, and is composed of four tracks from their full-length effort, which will hit US shelves early this year. They may or may not be ?the new Arcade Fire? or ?Iceland's Mumford and Sons?, but their music is undoubtedly stitched with poignant lyrics, thoughtfully yet simply-crafted arrangements, and fantasy-driven adventurousness of stories like ?Where the Wild Things Are? or ?Wicked?.

Comparing music to books may be as absurd as writing about music itself, but Of Monsters' songs evoke such vivid imagery, mirrored in their colorful, Sendakian album art. Into the Woods is as magical and mythical as their full-length album (apart from the fact that the entirety of the former comprises part of the latter), in its use of trumpet, accordion and banjo, its gang vocals in ?From Finner? and ?Little Talks?, and the sweet sound of guy/girl harmony. Through the folkloric tales of fighting animals and braving storms while riding on a whale's back, the group's music taps into a vulnerability that lies in all of us, regardless of whether it's thwarted, or allowed to flower and flame. by Michelle, Music Under Fire
